I'm back ... but a little bit slow off the mark.
Thanks Everyone ... back on deck but ever so slowly.
I had ' quadruple' heart by pass last Sat week at the Prince Charles Hospital
Sore all over as to be expected.... 2 veins from both of my Legs were taken out and used for the 4 vessel bypass.
How did this all happen ...I was walking in Triage / Resus in the ED Department about 15 days ago when from out of nowhere my heart started to ' gallop ' ... with bouts of ' shortness of breath ' and ' numbness ' which radiated down both arms.
I quickly grabbed a nurse and asked her to give me an ECG ( echo cardiogram ) so we could ' capture ' my heart rhythm on paper......bit like looking at a earthquake readout.
Heart rate was 180 / 85 .... it fluctuated all over the shop.
So...on to a bed and admitted to CCU ( Coronary Care Unit ).
I was administed heart medication to bring it into a ' stable ' state and ' hold it there '
I was given a ultra sound of my heart.....and every body who looked at the results were wondering why I was still here....it was ' critical '
Of the 4 vessels that required attention.....
Vessel number 1 ... completely blocked
....................2.... 98% blocked
....................3....85% blocked
last one ........4....79% blocked........
So.... 3 hours actually on the ' table ' ... but prep' and clean up was another 2hrs. ..... total 6hrs all up.
Resting up now... but not allowed to drive for 6 weeks....no lifting anythig over 2kg's ......plus 3 months off work
Ill have lots of time to ' polish ' my Scopes and admire them.
Thanks everybody for you heartfelt support.
PS...In the event that circumstances won't be so favorable next time ...I Will consider leaving all my gear( ALL OF IT )to 2 specific members here on IIS. They have been very generous towards me in the ' area ' of trust and patience.
I'm sure there is still plenty of 'viewing' time in me yet.
All the Best .......Flash

Great news Col !!!!!!!!!
Give my regards to Alana as well, I did tell her not to let you get too demanding........ some people will do anything for more observing time
I am coming up to Queensland on Friday for the weekend auction of one of my properties. I trust you will be home on Sunday this time around !!!!
P.S. Don't go dividing up your gear just yet, you might outlive us all with your new plumbing in place!!!!!!

Good to see you "up and about" Col - had us worried there for a while!
We still have to put the FC-100 and the SV102 LOMO side by side pitted against each other yet, so no going horizontal on us any time soon

Glad you are on the mend Col. Very lucky you were already in the hospital when it happened.
By ultrasound, I assume you mean an angiogram? An ultrasound can't directly tell if there are any blockages.
A timely reminder about a thread I started a little while back!

Hi Col,
If a bloke is going to have a heart attack, it sounds like having it
in hospital is the best place to be at the time.
You were lucky!
We wish you a swift recovery and an incredibly long and healthy life ahead.

Yes you are correct.... I had trouble trying to spell the correct wording....still a bit dopey from medication.
I lost all track of time....didn't know if it was day or night...and even what day it was...
Thank You Everyone for asking how I have been .............your a great bunch.
