Will be try to see venus and Mars tonight. Advice

So tonight I have decent skies on the Mornington peninsula. I have my 10"dobsonian set up I have a 26mm wide feild ep a 12.5 cheapo and a 9mm plossl. I want to try view Mars and Venus. I have read I should see them an hour after sun down. Would anyone have any tips for me

There is not much to see! They are probably better as naked eye objects. Venus is a white-ish dot, and Mars is about as far away as it can get from us at the moment.

Venus will be a bit nearer in June/July, and Mars will be nearer next year.

Forget mars just yet, venus s good for checking the phase
Jupiter is the object to go for, the eq belts, grs etc

Cheers for info. I've had some great views of Jupiter and it's moons. Might have to get up early for Saturn next then
