Vixen FL70S Fluorite Apochromat [Reduced]

This is the legendary 70mm doublet refractor with real calcium fluorite optics and a 560mm focal length (f/8). Pure white and very sharp images with legendary contrast. The scope was bought from Japan and came perfectly collimated. Star tests at 186x using 3-6mm Nagler zoom shows perfectly concentric airy disks in and out of the focus.

Optically and cosmetically in perfect condition. The lens cell is also collimatable via push-pull mechanism, which is a rarity in current doublet refractors.

Comes with the original 1.25" and 0.96" eyepiece adapters and extension tube, Vixen rings and dovetail, front lens cover, and Vixen 6x30 finder and bracket. I've also recently added the Baader M43-to-T2 ring for DSLR attachment and the T2-to-2" extension tube to make it compatible with the 2" diagonal/eyepiece. In short, this OTA is ready for both visual and imaging.

With minimum OTA length of 43cm (dewshield and extension tube unthreaded), this is also a perfect travel scope. You can carry the scope in your laptop backpack, together with your laptop and eyepieces, and put it in the airline overhead bin.

I'm a visual-only observer at the moment, but photographically this scope is a real performer too. Check out the images at http://www.astrobin.com/gear/137/vixen-fl70s/

Price reduced to $900 for the original 1.25" and 0.96" configuration or $1000 for the 1.25"/0.96"/2"/T2 configuration. Shipping is extra (prefer a local pickup in Sydney).

The 2" diagonal, eyepieces, and mount shown in the pictures are not included in the sale.

Please PM or email. Will add more pictures later.

Thank you,
Arief

I'm planning to join the observation session at Katoomba airfield this weekend (if there's one) and will bring this scope with me. It's a good opportunity for the potential buyer to test drive this scope.

Cheers,
Arief
