Curious Sign

My wife and I were visiting the lovely town of Millthorpe (between Bathurst and Orange) a couple of weeks ago and were surprised to see this sign outside the Millthorpe police station. From memory the Police station was next to the primary school or very close to it.

Website (at bottom of sign) seems to explain it. A justified campaign (Action against alcohol-fuelled violence).

I applaud the campaign, it's just that I hadn't seen this sign anywhere before. If you are driving by a police station lets say and saw a sign posted outside : " Protect Our Police", one would wonder and perhaps ask " I thought the police were supposed to be protecting the community? ". One could also stop the car and read the small internet link and find out what it is all about?

By the way, I'd like to see police called "Police", not "Cops", it's a common term I know, however, "Police" sounds much more respectful which it should be.
