Thumbs up Luna: Hi-res Moretus - 2nd September

Hi all.

Moretus is one of my favourite craters (I know Ving loves it too ), I just love the angle of it as you approach the limb. The libration at time of capture really makes it look quite close "to the edge".

This image is a 3-pane mosaic, created from 3 avi's of approx 1400 frames each. 25 alignment points in total were used, and 85 frames of each alignment point made up the final image.

The image was captured on Saturday night, 2nd September, with the 10" dob, EQ platform, 5x powermate, DMK21AF04 and Green filter.

Seeing was below average, but the warmer than usual day meant the temperatures weren't dropping as fast, so the mirror was a bit closer to ambient than usual.

The attached image is only 800px wide - the higher res version can be downloaded by clicking here (230k jpeg).

Thanks for looking.

mine shows more detail!
I love moon shots that are right on the limb, it gives me a feeling of flight and also a better impression of height and 3dness (yes thats a word (now)). more like being there
nice image mike
