A bit of fun, Thor's Helmet - single 10 min shot of NGC2359 with iTelescope T13

Hi All,

How cool is iTelescope.net!

I used my free demo account to capture with a single click Thor's helmet using T13 which is a Takahashi Sky 90 on a Paramount PME using a SBIG ST2000XMC one shot colour camera.

I must say how slick the interface is, the telescope login and status windows give you all the information on sky conditions, telescope status and what is happening with your imaging run.

Selected NGC2359 from the list of "Tonight's Finest Objects" which have nice colour thumbnails showing you what each object looks like and BLAM, off the scope goes (if it is available), sets up its plate solve, focus, autoguiding etc and then about 5 mins after the shot is done, is ready to download via FTP. I think it is even emailed to you in the demo account version.

Pretty cool, check it out for yourself at www.itelescope.net and give it a go.

Anyway, here it is, curves adjusted only in Nebulosity and resized to 800x600 and JPG squashed down to less than 200KB to post here. This was from the "calibrated" FITS file that was made available which looks to have darks and flats applied to it already.

You can check out the 10Mb PNG version here if you want.

Hmmmm, Takahashi.....yummmo

Cheers

Chris

PS. I am not affiliated with www.itelescope.net in any way, I just thought I would share how cool it is

It is very cool! :-)

I just had a test run with T18 on iTelescope.Net, a nice alternative when the sky is unwilling to cooperate. I also had fun learning new skills.

Attached is a single shot of M81 taken with their T18 in Spain.

Muchos Nachos.
