M1 Crab Nebular from Victoria

Hi guys,

Have wanted to take an image of M1 for many years, but as it never gets higher than 27 degrees from Victoria, its a tough object.

Managed 1 hour 40 mins of 200 second exposures at ISO1600 with my 12.5" f/5 and ageing DSLR.

Surprised by the nice star field that the object is in as the stars are always too faint to see visually and impressed by the deep colour scheme within M1.

Higher res here:

Clear skies,

John K.

Thanks Mike. You should have it a couple of degrees higher as well in your location. I am sure with good seeing you could generate a great result with your setup.

Thanks Franck - the camera is a modified Canon 400D. Dithering, darks and shooting when it's not too hot seems to generate a reasonable result but overdue for an upgrade.

Great capture John.

You don't see many photos of this object.

Ross.

Nicely done. Never tried this one either. Lack the focal length and the skills. Too tiny.
