Need rubber eyeguard - options?

I just received a 20mm Sterling Plossl from Smart Astronomy. Brief first light was very encouraging but it needs an eye guard.

Anyone used these Bintel eyeguards?

Morton, I use them on my Celestron Silver Top Plossls. They work very well.

Just work them up and down the barrel until the cushion/cup holds your eye at just the right place.

I wouldn't go back to not having them installed.

I've used them on my 26mm and 32mm plossls. They worked, but I found them a bit of a nuisance. I wound up taking them off and just using my hand instead.

Unfortunately, those long eyeguards are the only ones that work properly with long eye-relief eyepieces. I do use the butterfly ones that come up on one side only in shorter eye-relief eyepieces.

Here's a rubber eye guard from a 9mm ES 100. It fits right over this 30mm Pre Ultima I just picked up a few days ago.

I ended up ordering some from Edmund Optics. Very good but a bit pricey with shipping.

Only used it at home so far in my 66mm refractor. It's very sharp, and the 55º AFOV certainly has a nicer feel than 50º, although there is some angular magnification near the edges. The colour seems quite neutral. It's much better with the rubber eyeguard.

I've compared it a few times with my Panoptic 19mm. So far the Pan outperforms it slightly in all areas. But using a 66mm scope in a heavily light-polluted area is hardly a definitive test! If/when I get out with my Newtonian then I'll be able to make a better judgement.

What I'll say for now is that my impressions are very positive. I can certainly understand why there have been such glowing reviews of them.
