collimating a VC200L

Yoh!
have a second hand VC200l now and just had a go at collimating it. I followed the instructions on the vixen website to start with bit was using a TAk scope.
With the TAK the centre spot looks ok but the next ring out the white one is off centre slightly -ie the space is not equal all around. I tried a fiddle with the back alan screws but knowing what I know about Rcs collimation I was very gentle. However nothing seemed to move.
What fundamental error am I making?!!
I don't what to be too aggressive as the stars are not triangle or anything, just slightly oval. (and I can't star test due to clouds).
Any help much appreciated .
Graz
