Thumbs up Animation + Another Image (14th August 2006)

Hi all.

Attached is another image from the session on the 14th August. This image shows the merged WOY/WOZ quite nicely, and Io's shadow is just about to leave the disc.

The seeing was reasonable for this image, but it fluctuated greatly across the session as can be seen in the animation below.

Download the animation here: (450k gif)

Jupiter Animation

The animation consists of 8 frames, but colour balance and registration was very difficult due to the wildly fluctuating seeing (from 2/10 to 5.5/10). I also missed an hour between 0757 UT and 0854 UT (dinner time!) so there's quite a jump in the animation.

All other details on the image.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Mike,

there is some very nice 3D detail comming out in that image.

The animation is still very nice to look at. The good seeing in it does jump out with all its detail.

Hmm, how did I miss this post first time round? Nice work Mike; enjoyed the stills and the animation; the moon shadows really add another dimension to the animation.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for the comments. I'm pleased that at least 2 of the 8 frames were decent quality. I wish the rest were as well, but I guess i'm lucky they all weren't as bad as frame 3 (the worst of the lot).
