Veil Nebula with Nikon D810a

Here's one of the deep-sky shots that I have taken with the Nikon D810a that I'm reviewing for Sky and Telescope.

It's the Veil Nebula.

Click on the link above for a large image with more technical info on how it was shot.

16 x 8 minute exposures at ISO 800.

ok processing aside that looks pretty cool - so this is a NiKON copy of a canon60Da? looks like it would easily please a lot of people? So what software can you use with the camera? or do we have to wait for the article in S&T

Sorry you don't like my processing.

It's not a "copy" of the 60Da. It is a modified D810 that passes more Ha wavelengths.

I used BackYardNikon and Images Plus.

You will have to wait for the article in S&T for the full review.

I didn't say that and I am only a babe in the woods, I think it looks good. at least there are star colours there which many DSLR shots kill

? well without the specs for the camera does make it hard to really comment. I have had a modified cooled 350d and three modified cooled 40d's over the time. Did you look at the noise of the camera - I am assuming its not cooled?

I used BackYardNikon and Images Plus.

ok screen shots will be in the report I take?

You will have to wait for the article in S&T for the full review. sure thing
Jerry
sorry you took that the wrong way

Nice Job Jerry. Seems to be showing quite a bit more than an unmodded camera would.
