Nebula NGC6729...close up

Hi Guys

NGC6729 (click here for big)close up in LRGB.

Taken on an RCOS 10" RC Scope at f9, SBIG STXL6303E Camera and PME mount at itelescopes Siding Spring Observatory.
Processed with CCDstack, Star Tools and Photoshop. 17 hrs Total exposure time.
LRGB . All subs 20min. Lum bin 1 6rs. Red bin2 4.3hrs. Green bin2 2.6hrs. Blue bin2 4.3hrs.

A bit difficult for me, flats, colur balance etc, but I like the little hook feature (PN?), it came out well.

I initially took bin 1 RGB thinking I would get free hi res Lum if I combined them. Nup, full of colour noise. So I retook RGB bin2 and extra Lum.

I found bin 2 RGB much less noisy. A third of the time imaging Lum was cleaner than combining bin 1 RGB of equal exposure time for each filter.

Fred, that's a superb shot. The "? PN ?" is a mixture of Herbig-Haro objects (especially the bright red blob) and their associated collimated jets, emitted by the (infrared and therefore invisible) infant protostar R coronae Australis. You've actually got some fine detail on the main collimated jet - very sharp indeed. Super-inky-black dust there too. Excellent.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
Mike. I thought it might be a Herbig-Haro object (or such) but wasnt sure. HH98, handy to know. H, yes, Corona Australis.
