Be careful ......

As you all know ( some of you anyway ) ...I have sold a reasonable amount of gear lately.
One such ' person ' bought 2 items from me.

This person messaged me ' all excited ' about how I should have received the funds for the sale by now .... this is 2 days later......so have you posted my items yet

Now I am a shift worker and don't always have the privilege of access to a Computer ( We are ' BANNED ' from using Computers at work for ' personal ' activities ' ) ... .being a worker in an Emergency Department at a Hospital, such behaviour is not permitted.....PERIOD..... ( Network / Work Group is Monitored by IT Staff ... Queensland Government )

So.....I checked my Bank Account ( via friends mobile ... I don't have data with my mobile provider ) ... and sure enough ...the funds were there.
I got home and messaged the ' buyer ' and informed them I would be posting the goods tomorrow as I had the day off... ( on my stepdaughters computer ...)

I duly posted the parcel as promised to the forwarding buyers address.

Now ....I get this message today from the buyer.......

I have to say the only thing I like less than being pestered is pestering other people.

I understand your situation re shift work, but you have to admit that it requires grand total of 30 seconds to send a message like
"Money arrived/item has been sent/here's AusPost tracking number" . So I don't want to hear more excuses.
If you haven't sent the items I'd prefer to cancel the deal now. Please send the money back to

That parcel I posted 2 days eariler IS sitting in a Post Office in Victoria.
His message ABOVE was sent to me TODAY

Wed 01 Oct 2014 10:07

Processed through Australia Post facility

SUNSHINE WEST VIC

Obviously this person has a severe lack of PATIENCE .....OR expects in his world that things will appear in an ' instant '

If you want to know who it is....just message me .... so you don't get involved in any unnecessary ' arrogant messages ' from this individual.

Nobody needs this sort of behaviour directed towards them.

He is now amongst the other 2 individuals on my ' banned ' list from doing any ' business ' with.

It's a shame people have to be like this.....

Col.....

Shame when this happens.

Had it happen recently. He said he wanted his money back since I hadn't sent it (apparently telling someone it was sent 3 days prior wasn't enough...). Told him it was sent, and if he had changed his mind, he could sell it himself. He even then tried a Paypal claim, which was quickly killed when I showed the postal receipt.

Always frustrating when this happens. I am dealing with this right now as well. The guy disputed in Paypal, I provided proof that not only had it been sent but I show it received. Paypal closed the dispute in my favor so he issued a chargeback with his credit card which forced Paypal to reopen it and I have to provide all the documentation again. Just frustrating, even more so as I have yet to receive a single email from the guy at all since the initial purchase. I wish people like this would just stick to going to physical stores to buy if they can't honestly and with a reasonable amount of patience, deal with transactions online.

Fair go. Can't you send the parcel immediately? Given you have a job is no excuse for delay in contact or mailing. What an unbelievable thing you say. It's all about the buyer. Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Come on, surely a day or three waiting isn't the end of the world. If he is buying online, one would expect there would be a few days waiting? Even on Ebay you have to wait a day or so before some one contacts you to tell you the money has arrived and they pending their personal life, a day to have it delivered to the post office. We all have lives too Mr Buyer!

I once heard that the guy who promoted the sales phase: "The customer is always right" later said that he regretted it.

A little perspective ...

Well, well ... let's call spade a b***dy shovel here.

I am the unnamed 'person' here, and I have also bought and sold numerous items via IIS. Never had any issued with anyone.

Let's get a little timing in perspective.

*** 2409 - day one ***- I see the ad and send an offer to buy two items. Colin sends the response immediately with account details. I transfer the money, send a message and get the response:

"Hi Col,

just sent $170 to your account. It should arrive within 2 days (according to my bank), hopefully will be there tomorrow already.

My address is
....

Drop me a note when package is sent, please.
Thanks!"

"Thank You .... will post immediately funds show in my account.

Col..... "

(highlights mine)

Note no issues with shift works, no problems accessing computers... three messages sent and received in a span of a few hours.

*** 2809 (four days later) ***

I never had instance of my bank being so late in sending funds. I quiz Col to check the account and if the money is not there, tell me immediately.

"Hi Colin,

there must be something wrong with banking system, or there was a mistake somewhere - it never took more than two days for funds to reach anyone in Australia. Please check with your bank again, and if funds are not there inform me immediately so I could chase it from my end.

Thanks,
Bratislav"

response:

"You are correct .... funds went in on Thursday.....
The eyepieces are being posted tomorrow.
I am a shift worker....kinda stuffs me around a bit to get things posted.... so I'm off tomorrow ... these WILL be posted.

Col....."

Fair enough. I have no issues with that, and I have no reason to be unhappy or suspicious.

*** Another THREE DAYS pass ***. No postie at the door. No messages from Colin. No emails, no PMs. Nada. I am now having doubts, and I had enough of promises. So I send the following email :

"Hi Colin,

I have to say the only thing I like less than being pestered is pestering other people.

I understand your situation re shift work, but you have to admit that it requires grand total of 30 seconds to send a message like
"Money arrived/item has been sent/here's AusPost tracking number" . So I don't want to hear more excuses.

If you haven't sent the items I'd prefer to cancel the deal now. Please send the money back to

...

Very disappointed
Bratislav "

I immediately get back barrage of insults and threats about "sending PMs around" and like. Note there is no issues with shift work now, and oddly enough, still no problems to accessing the computer.

I then get another message after that with more abuse and supposed details of AusPost tracking.

What did you really expect me to think ?

BTW, I still have all PMs for anyone to check the story.

Just to set the records straight.

Package delivered today, safe and sound. Well packaged, it has to be said.
All this grief could have been avoided with just a little more communication.

Always two sides to a story. I too greatly dislike lack of communication. Makes anybody nervous, not only you.

three days for Aust Post to do anything seems a bit optimistic, chill out and relax, forgetting all the other stuff you should have waited a little longer after postage day. not everything happens at the speed I think it should either but sometimes you just have to sit and wait. You cant expect your priorities and expectations to be applied to someone else.

Hey, I never complained about AusPost (although I can, trust me).

My biff is with people leaving you in the dark. A little PM goes a long way. How long does it take to send "item posted today" ??? Or "money arrived, thanks" ??? Or even "I can't do it today, sorry".

Enough of this. Time to do something useful for a change, like polishing.

Col,

I see you using bad language here (one bit since edited out - good move). Not too flash of you, and against TOS. I'd be interested in the balance here, did you abuse Bratislav as he claims? Remember he also says he has the texts to prove it. If so it would be you I wouldn't deal with.

I'm put off by the whole mess. I've had my own disputes with buyers, it can be a minefield, but there's a way to go forward I reckon.

Lest I sound like Simon Pure, I'm referring only to keeping in mind that this is a better forum if you don't get personal as above.

3 days... Oh sob sob. Try my EP Australia Post "misplaced" for 14 days, then found it and supposedly delivered it, then it was lost again (after being "delivered") then carded to me 2 days later. 18 days.

Boo hoo... 3 days.

I don't think it prudent to air disputes like this publicly.

Sigh.

I never said I had issues with Col for 'not sending items on time'. I never said that. Nor I would have issue waiting for a parcel - my 35mm Pan that I bought from Astromart went across whole of North America and got lost in the mail for nearly TWO MONTHS! In the end guy even refunded money, but after eyepiece miraculously turned up I paid it again.

The issue here is that not ONCE Col volunteered any information. I had to ask about everything, always me extracting the answers with pliers. I suppose you can argue I could just sit and wait, but after several sour deals on Astromart and ebay may patience is wearing thin. Is it too much to expect a note saying "money landed" or "items sent at ...." or "tracking number is ..." ????

Besides, unlike other party, I never used any abusive language (or maybe Col can prove otherwise? I'm all ears). All I said is that if item still hasn't been posted (at that point nearly a week after money had landed in his account) I'd prefer my money back.

Listen, I don't care what Colin or anyone else thinks or says about me. I just wanted to set the things straight, at least from my point of view.

Case closed.
