Hi guys, I was thinking I would add to this image and thus hadn't posted it on here yet but now it is looking like I wont get another chance till next year.

Last new moon I got down to Pauls to try my new NP101 out. I didnt get as much as I would have liked on it, this is 40 minutes of each colour in 20 minute subs, and an hour of luminance with half hour subs. I took more images but my automated focusing was not working so the later subs were out of focus and I had to ditch them.

Criticism welcome, I cant wait to get this new scope onto a serious project and sink some time into it. I now have fitted a focuser that I can adjust tilt with, and so I can chase out the last of my star shapes the bottom right of this image is a little skewed.

I myself like the image but I feel it is lacking some real colour definition, I like the star field, but the nebulosity underwhelms me a little.

Looks good Peter, a beautiful area that, I love the dark snaking river feature. Perhaps it could do with some contrast enhancement..? but a fine vista.

Probably just needs some more data and a processing tweak. Good start with the new scope, Peter!

That's a very nice image for the exposure time. The colours are great and the stars look fabulous. The nebulosity will look more solid with more exposure time and with some Ha added.

Greg.

Nice indeed. I agree with Mike - a slight tweak in contrast is all that is required.

Been considering the Np101 myself, but the FSQ85 is keeping me VERY happy right now.

Congratulations on the new scope, Peter. That will open up a whole world of wide vistas to image - more possibilities than there are new moon weekends. Terrific start with this one.

Very nice. Just added it to the To-Do list on the strength of your image.

With a bit of luck we will all be imaging together soon and you can have a look at it!

Thanks Greg, like I said I would love to sink my teeth into some serious exposure. Unfortunately this time of year gets sparse on narrowband targets for a small focal length scope.

Cheers Rick, now I just have to find something else to point it at to do some longer exposures.

Cheers Mike, I really like the top section when it has the white tendrils extending across it, sadly with the short integration I was unable to get this happening.
