STT8300 test shots

Hello my lovelies, , I have been having so much fun with the SBIG STT 8300 plus filter wheel and on my Orion (yes Orion not Taka...) Eon 110mm f6. Had to seriously screw some damper/ holding screws down as the focus does nae like a big fat camera like that. But getting there. And so much cheaper.
Here is an Ha M16.
trying to get all the others out.

haven't used my STT to much yet but I'm having fun with it as well. Did u get the guiding FW ?

I love the 8300 chip - I use an FLI ML8300 - the best camera I have ever used. I see Louie also uses an ML8300 (though mine is OSC)

I would like to know what peoples thoughts about the guiding filterwheel on the new SBIG's.

I have the SBIG STT8300 + FW8G + AO-8T and I love this setup.
I've never had a problem finding a guide star, normally at .2 or .3 second (for the AO to guide at 3 or 4hz) and the slowest was 1 second when imaging M83. This is with my TSA-120 too so not a huge aperture and if you weren't using AO I don't think you'd ever have a problem finding a guide star at 1-2 second exposures.

I just use the included CCDSoft to guide and image and it guides really solidly, and it's very rare for it to lose the guide star. And on the rare occasion that it does, it almost always picks it back up again.
