Insect Repelant

I have been told and would believe that Rid and Aerogard can harm atronomical glass coatings.
Just wondering if the same is true for Mozzie coils or those mossie repellant devices that use tablets and 240 V.

Mozzie coils should be fine, it is only smoke, any oils in it would be too heavy and the smoke would sink.

No sure what the tablets are!

Hi Pete,

I was told that mossies are attracted by good old body odour especially if you are only wearing thongs.

I tried having a shower before an observing session and would give that a success rating of about 60% for a few hours.

I agree with the repellents being a bit dicey around optics so I don't use them either. I've also planted around my observing area those mozzie repellent bushes which I'd give a 50/50 success rating as well.

Cheers

Never mind smoke hurting the optics. Mossie smoke repellents give me a major allergy attack! There's go to be a better way...
