Making the most of the uncharacteristically good weather in Melbourne recently, I decided to do a revisit of the Trifid Nebula as a first attempt at 10 minute subs. In previous sessions I have stuck to a conservative sub duration ranging from 3 to 5 minutes and employed a focal reducer to compensate for the UHC-S filter.
This is a 4 hour integration of the Trifid Nebula consisting of 24 x 10 minute subs, taken at 900mm focal length. Apart from stacking and stretching a high-pass filter was applied to enhance the stratum area. 100 x 10 minute darks and 100 bias frames were used for calibration.
