Hello, having a clean out and this trusty scope must go.
Its a Celestron Celestar tripod/wedge with a C8 OTA. I purchased the C8 separately so I'm unsure of its age or model. The OTA has STARBRIGHT coatings which are in very good condition. Optically the scope is very good, I've had some of my best planetary views through this scope. Some dust on the mirror as expected but no visible issues with coatings. Sadly the OTA has suffered some damage by the previous owner causing a chunk to be taken out of the front rim of the scope (see photo). It doesn't appear to affect the views and I've taken some nice shots through this scope (I'll see if I can find them). The same owner covered the OTA with flocking material / felt. I guess to help with dew or tube currents.
I'm selling cheap due to the cosmetic condition of this gear.
The celestar mount tracks the sky and has dual axis motors and controller. Its possible to use this mount for some basic astrophotography. It is powered from a single 9v batter or 12v external battery with supplied cable.
Accessories include:
- Genuine dew shield,
- 25mm and 10mm Celestron eyepieces,
- Original finderscope (but has dovetail foot to accept 50mm GSO finderscope).
-1.25" and 2" visual back.
- 1.25" mirror diagonal
- OTA has dovertail on base for fitting to GEM mount if desired.
- OTA front lens cap.
Price is $500 and would make a great beginners scope or for someone upgrading from a cheap small aperture scope. Please don't be too put off by the damage to this scope - the photos make it look worse than it is, and its in great working order - I've had many enjoyable nights with this scope and will be sad to see it go.

I also have a 2" GSO dialectic diagonal available in as new condition for an additional $50 to the buyer of the scope.
