I wouldn't say it's a waste, but, proper results are attained after cropping overlapped/dithered/low SNR regions prior to running ABE/DBE. I guess it depends where the control points (and, how many of them) are placed.

Here is a better version. I have two nights of RGB data. This is red from night two and blue from night one with all the green. I still have a bit of flexure and this will get fixed today. Each time I fix it in one part of the system another lesser problem rears its ugly head. It is just like whack a mole!
