M8 LAGOON Reprocessed (Layered Mask)

Hi Guys,

Took the lagoon last night. I'm very pleased how M8 turned out in the end from using layered mask. Took a good 2-3 hours on the processing which was worth it in the end. I can't recall how many layered mask i did, but i took 3 x different exposure sets to prevent burning of the core. I used only the IR/UV filter without the UHC-S this time around. All in all i love it

Cheers.

Hi Eric

That is a beautiful image with a lot of subtle detail as you wander around inside the pane. Great capture and processing.

Cheers

Just be careful over doing it..yes you can bring out more of the nebula but looks more fake with stars being so over exposed.

I still like the original image personaly but it's what ever you like.

hahah Ken...if it wasn't for my father-in-law wanting help with his stupid Mac he just purchased I would have been on time..lol

Sorry for the delay Ken...lol

Eric...as you can see I have over done the image but I have actualy improved the look of the stars instead over exposing them.....This took many functions in photoshop and around 10minutes to do.

Hope you like the result.

You are excused Tony.

Only because of the great job you did with Erics Pic.

Amazing post-processing, Toe-nails.

No problem Eric,

I selected the stars only...modified them, sharpened them, Feathered them then I did the enhancement without affecting the stars..also did a star reduction then I did a high pass filter to enhance the darker areas then Jpeg and save.

see simple....lol

Eric..I cant explain each area...would take me months....lol
But the high pass filter method is already explained by Doug here...so thats one process you can work on.
