M20 - 5th Time Lucky!

Hi everyone,
Success at last! Got out to the dark skies agin on Friday night and in spite of the inclement weather forecast managed to get 3 hrs of data before the moon popped up and the predicted clouds rolled in a few hours after they were supposed to..

Might be a bit of flexure there as the stars were a bit wobbly on a few subs, can't wait for the oag on the new QSI camera arriving soon.

High res on Astrobin below...

Felt good to be back on the horse after the last stuff up when I binned 3 hrs + data x3 and lost everything!

Kinda nice imaging and wrapping up by 11pm, made a nice change to be tucked in to bed and warm before midnight with an image in the can

Processed in PS5 with darks, flats and dark flats.

Thanks for looking

Cheers

Andy

Looks good. Great colours. What's with the white mask?

Hi Marc, thanks for your feedback

The mask is a concept for the ongoing series I've been working on for the upcoming Australian Pro Photography Awards. (science & nature category).

I'm reminded of those old movies when the actor looks through binoculars and there's a dark shaped mask over the screen - so this is my interpretation of the telescope version.

Something different for the judges to ponder

Cheers
Andy

Great to get a result after the frustrations of the last try.

I am still aiming to have a mains connected dc power supply in the shed soon to run heaters, I would not run the mount from it until/unless it was on a ups so that a short mains interruption does not kill the tracking. I was wondering if long, active usb cables also might let you put the laptop in the shed to keep it out of the dew.
