Perigee Full Moon rising behind Temple

Hi all,

Here's the "Supermoon" rising this evening, as viewed from Southbank in Brisbane. After a bit of planning, I successfully positioned myself so that the Moon rose behind the statue on the Mormon temple in Kangaroo Point

There's also a 1.8 mb animation here:

This is also first light for my new Canon 6D

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shot Stephen

It looks better IMHO without the light pole!

Thanks Peter and Chris!

This image is being featured on the front page of Spaceweather today!

Here's another version, where I have cloned out the light pole.

Cheers,
Stephen

Congratulations on the Spaceweather front page - again!

On balance I think I prefer the one without the light pole.

Spot on. Even the street lamp is aligned with the center of the moon.

Thanks very much Ross, Pete and Marc! It was nice to have the first astronomy-related image from my new 6D published in Spaceweather. Hopefully there will be a few more with this camera.

Here's one final version, in which I've cloned out lightposts.

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks Derek! Yes, I'm looking forward to testing the 6D in dark skies once this rain clears up! I have a Samyang 14mm f/2.8 on the way as well

Cheers,
Stephen
