Hawaii here we come!

Well we bit the bullet and booked our next OS trip tonight. 13 days in sunny Hawaii in June next year. I have been dying to go back after such a great trip in 2012 and this time the SWMBO comes along also. She has been wanting to go there for years so should be fun.

Lucky you Malcolm. I'd love to go to Hawaii one day.

Suzy
SWMBO is "She Who Must Be Obeyed"!!
Yes I am very excited, I have such lovely memories of my visit for the Transit in 2012.
We haven't worked out an agenda yet, just booked the airfares (Jetstar had a special on!) but a trip up to the summit of Mauna Kea to see the sunset is a definite must do again.

We were there for the eclipse in '91 too. It was cloudy.
We went back there at the beginning of this year. For someone interested in astronomy, diving and a bit of caving, it's pretty hard to beat as a destination.
In case you weren't aware, the lava stopped flowing into the sea late last year and is now heading in the other direction. It's unlikely to start up again.

Steve.

My week in 2012 was mainly as part of the Sky & Telescope Transit tour. Apart from the 4 days involved with the Tour I managed a sunset visit to the summit of Mauna Kea, a 3 hour helicopter tour, a four hour snorkelling cruise, a full day nature and volcano tour with lava tubes, the main crater at Kilauea and visits to the ruins north of Waikaloa.
This trip we are planning on doing the Pearl Harbour thing, Waimea canyon on Kauai and Heleakala crater (I think I spelt that right!) on Maui
