A start on NGC 300.

Hi,

I'm quite pleased with the this image of NGC 300, tried it before with not much success.
Five minute subs at ISO 1600 seems perfect for this galaxy, at least with my equipment.
Looking forward to getting 5 hours on this one.

Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.
18 x 5 minute subs, ISO 1600.
Stacked in DSS, processed in PS7 and Cs2.

Cheers,

Justin.

Wow! Far out Justin that is fantastic. I say that because I took a sub of it myself the other night and there was the faintest smudge in the frame and it wouldn't matter how many I stacked I wouldn't get a shot like that.

A good start mate, you need more signal to clear the background, go ahead ;-)

Thanks Kevin!

Yep I was chuffed when the first sub popped on the screen.
That was the night when there was ice on the outside and inside of the dome.
Crisp seeing you might say.

Cheers,

Justin.

Well done, Justin; that's a terrific start. Why stop at 5 hours? Go longer!

Thanks H!

I guess it will depend on how long it will take to get a clean image, but your right, probably will need to go longer.

Cheers,

Justin.
