m20 Triffid

35 subs at 300 sec in L and between 12 and 20 subs at 300 sec for rgb , processed in PI.

M20 Trifid Nebula - 2014

I had to ditch a lot of RGB as am in mid install of an MMOAG and was a bit lazy with focussing as was waiting for an adapter before rebuilding a system profile in focus max so its a bit noisier than I would like but almost there.

Will try to get this right next year;-) no rush, right?

That shows a lot of promise, David! Colours are nice and it looks like you'd have good detail with more careful focusing.

A nice looking photo David.

I love the colours and detail.

Are the "funny" spikes due to the focusing?

Ross.

Hi Ross
Thanks for the comments. The funny spikes are blooming artefacts from the CCD. I am studiously trying to ignore them until I find an approach to dealing with them that I am happy with.

Cheers Rick. Looks fine on an iPad but it won't stand up to PC screens and I really must learn to wait and think through the obvious issues before posting. But I have to say that processing through PI is a lot of fun. The colours just pop.
