NGC 6302 --digging out some more detail

http://www.astrobin.com/104993/B/

Note added: Later version a few posts down.

This is the Butterfly Nebula, more commonly known as the Bug Nebula. It's taken a while--got a few exposures at the SPSP, some more in June. At this stage the core was blown out, so I took some shorter exposures in July. Finally put it all together.

Exposure around 8 hrs--4 hours of 600s subs and 4 hours of 200s subs.
Telescope: 12.5"PlaneWave CDK
Camera:QSI540wsg
Mount: AP900

A really nice capture of this little gem Geoff, a great addition to your growing collection from your Wiruna observatory

Thanks Mike. Problem with growing collection is growing disorganisation on the computer.

NGC6302--digging out some more detail

I managed to dig out a few more details using PixInsight"s HDRMultiscaleTransform with a star mask to protect the stars.
