Sweet Jupiter Aug 12th from Melbourne

Got some really good seeing for that intermediate period after sunset (before the seeing does what it normally has been doing here in Melbourne! ie. go downhill!) and got some moments of 7/10.

Unfortunately my mirror was at least 1.5 degees warmer than ambient so results could have been even better.

Re-sampled x 1.2 in Registax, 175 R,G,B frames processed and recombined in Astra Image (ME Deconvolution Exponential 6@1.4), medium unsharp masking, autocolour in Photoshop and slight adustments in curves.

Not long to go before Jove is gone, and still finding it an amazing object to web image.

Huge image scale John! Nice image!

I think it would look even sharper without the resample.. of course the tradeoff is losing a bit of image scale

I've also seen good seeing just after sunset before the temperature drops.. Unfortunately that's the time when we're about to get the kids dinner, bath and bed! So it doesn't leave me much opportunity to get outside.

how do you find the me exponential deconvolution, I have been basically using 4 or 5 x 1.1 for a long while now.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Dave ME Deco has worked for me well, but I have found for my set up and data 6 @ 1.4 has worked best.

However, attached is a new tecnique I have started using involving first running a FFT Butterworth Lowpass and then LR Exponential 7 @ 1.5. I think that this will be the way to go as the results are better.

Also, not sure I have seen the highlighted feature in the SEB before, there could be a disturbance perhaps building up in the SEB and EB areas?
To me it appears like a reddish brown streak is extending into the Equatorial Zone from the South Equatoria Belt whilst at the same time a round red swirling area is forming in the South Equatorial Belt. Anyhow, have submmited to ALPO just in case and to get feedback. Interesting stuff! Let me know what you guys think (more than likely an over reaction and bad obsevation from me)
