Double Shadow Transit

This evening is the first of 3 double shadow transits occuring this month.

14th August
Set up your scopes early because it starts just after 5pm and finishing at abut 6.20pm. Io will be chasing after Europa.

21st August
Europa's shadow is first tonight at 18.20 followed by Io at 18.57. You should have about 2hrs of viewing.

28th August
This time Io starts the show at 21.51 with Europa making his appearance at 21.02. Again you will have about 2 hours to follow this extraordinary event.

Gee on the 28th, Jupiter must be at like 10° at that time of night. I don't think i'll try for that one.
