IC4628 Bi colour

Bit of a work in progress at the moment. I am waiting patiently for the cloud to leave SA, but that might take a few more months yet.

This image a relatively short integration so far with only 7.5 hours between the Ha and OIII. I have been running the QSI at -25C on the sensor and this is making for lower noise and doing 30 minute subs has helped to beat down the background noise.

I am torn with the colour at present but I will reassess all this once I get the SII. It looks a little similar to an APOD in colour so I figure it cannot be that far wrong. Anyway dealers choice with NB.

Probably need to take a little more care in avoiding dark rings around the dimmer field stars ..but hey...a very fine image just the same.

Yeah the Ha stars were reduced prior to the blend and I did not do that for the OIII (negligently) ;and that has caused those rings. I will have to take care of that when I do the full Hubble palette.

Thanks Rick and Fred for your comments. Fred this would be a great object for your setup. Martin did one pretty close with his CDK and an Apogee 16 camera and I would think the field if view would look similar on your scope. The surrounding field is a little dark and foreboding but the detail in the main field is pretty nice I reckon.

Very nice palette and subtle detail in the clouds. Is it really bi colour only?
Looking forward to the final version!

Looking great, so far. Nice and punchy. Artistic.

I've been doing 30-minute sub-exposures on this as well, as filler.

LOL, that is a funny video. It was done a couple of years back now.

Yep only Ha and OIII there. No RGB at all. I have been using a technique for doing RGB stars which works ok.

Its actually a really nice object and does lend itself to an artistic interpretation.

That's a nice narrowband image. Nicely done and well balanced with a pleasing colour scheme. I like it.

Greg.

Stunning target and beautiful result Paul, I must try this target, just to compare the NB against the OSC, Im probably in for real shock but interesting none the less.
Your image is definately one for the pool room !

This object is red in broad band imaging (RGB) and not really of much interest. You might get some blue/pink in the centre of the nebula though if you go deep enough and do enough integration time.
