Centaurus A - 2 Hrs - ED80

Hi All,

Another from the 5th of July, 2 hours of 5 minute exposures with the ED80 and the Atik 314L+

Finally got around to processing it, larger version on Astrobin here: http://astrob.in/107115/0/

Cheers

Chris

Great effort from home Chris!

Guiding looks like it's behaving too, nice round stars.

Yes, sorry, Mohammed, I forgot to put that in the description, the 2" CLS filter was used in front of the Orion 0.8x Focal Reducer, so the scope was at F6.

Thanks Jorge, The camera picked up quite a bit more than I thought it would, I think the combo of the 314L+ and the FR means it's in its sweet spot for imaging.

Yep Rod, the ED80 is a doddle to guide compared to the great big lump of the newt tube, hopefully soonish I can start the obs building and fine tune the setup for even longer than 2 hours total integration time. OR gather more data on subsequent nights.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone

Cheers

Chris

Good Going Chris, have captured some of the Oval sorrounding Glow on this one, pretty faint stuff for suburban sky Id guess - between its brightness competing against sky glow, this is showing up rather well
Quite a unique target this one, Good show ...

Why thank you kind Sir, your praise is much appreciated....

I think until I get the obs built and perhaps a mono camera with narrowband filters, I might stick with the ED80 combo, it really makes a difference with guiding and FOV with the Atik, plus, the 2hrs vs 1hr with the newt, seems to smooth things out when using the CLS filter and proper flats. Best thing I have built to date is the flat box

Cheers

Chris
