Cat's Paw NGC6334

have spent 5.7 hours in total on imaging the Cat's paw with nearly 4 hours of Ha and 2 hours of RGB. I was impressed with the central reflection data that was successfully produced byRobert Gendler and Ryan HIannahoe (see this image http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/N...O-Gendler.html) and was pleased that Robert allowed me to use some of this RGB data in my image. I think that it makes it a bit more appealing.

Anyway I hope you like it

All the best

Paul

Quite a debate on the Cat's Paw in other postings Here is my Pic before the 'contentious' blue bits were added.

Still a nice object either way.

No debate really, it is a predominantly deep red nebula, simple...as your version shows, slightly different shade of red perhaps but red all the same

There are a few subtle blue-green colour shades in the central area, which your collaborative version shows too

Nice field size there for the whole paw to fit in

Mike

Thanks Mike your explanation of the dust clouds and their effect on the light that is visible was fascinating. As my collaborative picture illustrates, processing can greatly alter what a picture shows. This brings into play the whole art verses science thing where a picture can be what we want it to represent not necessarily what it does represent.

I'm reasonably happy with my FOV at this stage with the 11000M it stands at just under1 degree at 1.54 arc secs per pixel.

all the best

Paul.

I mostly like both, but with the collaboration with Robert et al, I would have layered the OIII a little more subtly, as Mike says, it is a predominately H-a nebula.

Maybe boost the red a touch in the collaborative image?

Thanks for the advice Lewis. This is a version with the Blue toned down and a slight boost to the Red Channel

All the best
