Jupiter - Full Rotation Animated Gif by Damian Peach!!

Hi all.

This is amazing, it will blow you away.

It's an animated gif showing a full rotation of Jupiter, captured by Damian Peach on April 19 and 20, from Barbados this year.

The detail is incredible. The full resolution images he sent out were amazing on their own, but seeing Jupiter fully rotate is just mindblowing.

It's a large 8meg download, but worth every second spent waiting for it.

WOW! That is incredible. Not just the great animation, but the great seeing he had long enough to capture 360 degrees!!!

Although not as long in capture duration as Damiens', this is one of my favourite animations as it shows the cloud movement. Even shadows of the Moons appear! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:P..._animation.gif

I've been playing this animation all morning, and it is without doubt one of the most profoundly beautiful animations I have ever seen. I called my wife who was mesmerised by the stark, dramatic beauty of this gas giant, and how well Damian has captured and assembled the entire sequence.

This is excellent. Sorry for the stupid question but why does jupiter appear to have seams, is it the only way to achieve the animation - eg capture in sections?

There is some damn fine image compilation there. Looks like there has been a lot of cutting, layering and fitting together going on. It is certainly not a straight forward animated gif of a series of images. It would be fascinating to find out how he did it. Brilliant stuff.

It's very impressive! If you want to impress someone, make it your desktop! Not everyone has a spinning Jupiter on their desktop!

I did it on mine just for a while to see if it worked but it seemed to tax my system a bit... but hey if you've got a PC with oodles of power, why not?
