Corona Australis Region

Rather than impatiently post a pic after one night's run, I thought I'd "save" subs over a few nights for a slightly deeper piccy. Can't do it for comets, but for deep sky it seems like a plan.

This is my rendition of the Corona Australis region. A very pretty area of sky, it seems to have everything - A globular cluster NGC6723, some blue reflection nebula NGC6726, IC4812, a nebula that looks like a comet NGC6729 and dark nebula that blocks starlight.

Skywatcher BD ED100 at F7.2 with Orion 0.8x focal reducer, 347 x 1 minute subs unguided taken over 5 nights, HEQ5 pro, Pentax K-5.

Bigger at http://astrob.in/107917/0/

Didn't I have some trash running through the frames! I caught several satellites, an aircraft and an asteroid 426 Hippo!

Thanks Jo and Rick!

It is a cool place to explore. I first imaged this region back in the 1990's with an 8" f8.8 newt and didn't do as well as this little 4" refractor.

Good one Kevin!

Good balance, didn't kill the globular.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Ted. I'm slowly working on image quality, amongst other things so hopefully the bigger ones will be best.

Thanks Justin. I don't believe in killing globulars. I've seen a few pics of this region with the core of 6723 burned out, which ruins it IMO.

Thanks Werner. The focal reducer helped with that I think also.
