M64, its spiral arms do not appear very pronounced & happens to have an inclination angle of approximately 63 degrees.
Two things make M64 different fromother galaxies. Many have observed the inner part is spinning in the opposite direction as the outer (pretty rare). This counter-rotation could be the cause for much of the star formation which is taking place near the core.
Secondly, it has a dark dust cloud which it gets the name "Blackeye" Both the unusual rotation and apparent black eye have been attributed to a collision with another galaxy.
Anywhoo, moving forward - Another rather bad session as only could use 4 from 12 subs - 5 were slighly strailed, only about the width of the stars and 3 subs were - well, a few lightyears long
Usual gear used of late , 10"F4.7 Newt, QHY10 OSC, OAG, NEQ6p & 10min subs. I think i have done well as in the fainter extension arms, some interesting details and not blowing out the core, tho had to smooth the outfield considerably.

Yeah, for sure, the eye looks very 3D...imaging trials and tribulations ..sometimes it can be a case of where's that gun?
Just as an experiment, you could try adding a little more blue in the disc hmmm?

This time around I did run at default which is Gain 45 & OffSet 125 - personally, I havent had enough time for reall evaluations on what best, tho have found that The offset is much more sensitive where as the signal appears to be missing essential details when set below 115'ish, well, with this particular one anyway ?
I have run the Gain at 65 and 55 - now 45 and next might try 35 and so on, if feel need ? Pretty much all experimental so far.

Cheers Bob.. it's definitely useful to hear about your observations on the Offset -- I'm finding that at the default values, the QHY12 I have here falls about 10-12% of full well capacity, especially in the blue. I've come up with revised values of 8/120 that bring it within 5% but have yet to test in the field.
I wish I could hit those low temps you're running at, because I'm wanting to do longer subs than I have in the past but anything longer than 5 mins is peppered with hot pixels, even at -20. The lowest I can get the camera to do is about -24.5, which leaves the cooler running at 95% load.

Good Stuff Eden, so you have a Mono then, prob why there such a different operating specs and best settings - All the technicalities I have minimal experience at the moment to be honest ?
Re: - 24,5 degs running 95%. do you mean the camera is running at -25 below ambient or 25deg below 0deg ?

Thanx Justin, Yeah the inside needed carefulness to keep the contrasts from exasperating; tho the transition of the fainter glow into the background early in proc, I seemed to have fluked so, am pleased with it as it is
