The air is very calm outside and the sky has been clear most of the day in Melbourne, although looking outside now I can see a few light whiffs of cloud. Victoria is in the middle of a high right now, so there is a fair chance of good seeing tonight. It's been a while since I had a good close look at Jupiter. I'll put the 12" outside when I get home and
Hmmm... The forecast charts I'm looking at show a cold front sweeping through tomorrow and Wednesday and then the next high moving in and maybe settling down for a bit... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDG00074.shtml
Good to see your threads once again.
Enjoy our Victorian skies.
Just had a look outside and no clouds at all, even with the moon we have been out viewing testing out a new XW 7mm and Jupiter looks pretty good.
Seeing has been very ordinary. So much for highs and lows and weather map. Inspired by the refractor vs long newt vs short newt thread I played a few games with my two GS Dobs. I posted about my observations in this thread.
I was out on Sunday and after showing the Moon and Jupiter to a couple of friends, more or less gave up. Couldn't see a cracker! Plus my wife finished off a bottle of red and kept poking her finger in my XW-10...and that hurts!
Maybe tonight (Tuesday)? I expect that once the Moon gets past full, the clouds will come back though....ain't it the way?
