RIP Rik Mayall

The people's poet is dead.

This came as a surprise!
"More of a shock really Neil".

"God I'm bored. I may as well be listening to Genesis"

A sad loss to many of us who grew up in his era of British comedy

I've told you a million times Neal, don't exaggerate!

I saw him years ago in a Noel Coward play. Very good he was too but he did bring the house down when he briefly slipped into his Young Ones character.

RiP Rik.

a big part of one of the funniest shows ever, and like all of the best comedies, was easily passed on to my children for them to love too!

Those who know his comedy (assuming all the posters on this thread) will agree The Comic Strip Presents is a must have in your DVD collection. I remember the first time I saw 'Five Go Mad In Dorset', 'Gino' and 'Four Men In A Car'

Back in 1994 he apparently had a near fatal accident with a quad bike. He was in a coma for days and afterwards suffered from epilepsy. His death may have been related to the incident.

I was a fan of the Young Ones and Black Adder. Love British comedy. American comedy is more about embarrassment than anything funny. I don't think they get it.
