Puzzle: Which object is this bright star ?

I was looking at a website about the 'Midwinter Party' on the South Pole station happening on this midwinter day.

I saw a bright star in the top left photo in the image above which I know what it is. It is located left of the American flag just under the center of the photo.
Can somebody else recognize this star/planet ?

All I'll say is, it's not Polaris
