June 8th marks the 47th anniversary of a pivotal moment in history.
Were it not for the truly heroic efforts of a handful of sailors rigging a makeshift aerial under machine gun fire, the nuclear armed bombers en - route to incinerate millions of civilians would not have been recalled and the world would have been a very different place with us being oblivious to who was responsible.
Only in the last decade or so has the veil of obfuscation been drawn aside by those directly involved, which fairly reflects the amount of time required for the explicit threat of reprisals (for breaking silence ) to be no longer meaningful.

The significance of the documentary (linked above) is that it is a rare and indelible first hand account that reveals the extent to which the instruments of state (in America) have been subverted by "other" interest groups. The cognitive dissonance one experiences when trying to make sense of US foreign policy ( particularly pertaining to the middle east ) becomes more or less resolved.
I don't believe it is possible to understand the true nature of global politics without putting the puzzle together one piece at a time. The USS Liberty incident is by no means the biggest piece nor does it define the entirety of the situation (So don't read too much in to it) It is simply the clearest path marking an entry to the rabbit hole of global power structures with the least conjecture and BS attached.
