Bug Nebula - NGC 6302

With the new moon last night, I managed to capture the Bug Nebula. This is an interesting object to capture and process given it's small size and brightness range.

Three images attached:
1. Crop at full resolution
2. Crop at 50% resolution
3. Full Frame

Details below:
Exposures: 10 @ 90 seconds, 10 @ 60 seconds
Telescope: LX90 OTA
Mount: AZ-EQ6
Camera: EOS 550d
Location Sydney

Cheers,
Mark

That's damn good Mark!

Lovely colour.

Must image the bug one day.

Cheers,

Justin.

Very nice, the colours are great. I hope to get around to imaging this object too at some stage.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. I have had a chance to read up on planetary nebula's tonight and many have really interesting shapes and colours.

Hopefully I will get an opportunity to capture more over the next few months.

Cheers,
Mark

Great choice of subject matter, Mark. It is a very intriguing object. I spent much time looking at it through the Mary Rose at SPSP. You have captured some excellent detail, not an easy task given just how small an object it is.
