looking for info on Nova Puppis 1942 cp puppis

Hello, I have a few astro pics on my office wall which usually sparks conversation-the latest being a person whose Father visually discovered nova puppis in Wales.
I am intrigued and would love more information, I have Burnhams but would appreciate more. Especially the human side to the story. If you have any ideas please pm me and I will give you my email address.
Many thanks
Graham.

To quote:
In 1942, Bernard Dawson from La Plata discovered Nova Puppis 1942 (CP Pup), the brighter southern nova during the XX Century.

The CBAT List of Novae in the Milky Way has the following details (abbreviations expanded & column headings inserted):
CP Pup, NA, Nova Puppis 1942; Date of discovery (Y M D): 1942 11 09; RA 08 11.8, Dec -35 21; Mag range 0.5 - 15; Reference: IAUC 0925; Discoverers: Dawson, Finsler.
http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/nova_list.html

IAUC 925 is not available in electronic form unfortunately and a Google search produced nothing.

Here's the AAVSO's VSX entry for CP Pup (Nova Pup 1942):

Some external references quoted in that are:

And here's another catalogue entry for CP Pup:
