Nepean River early morning

Went for a quick trip to the Nepean river this morning, milky way was a bit high still but got a 180 degree panorama looking west. Penrith can be seen on the horizon to the right of the image where the sky has blown out. Not really a dark site but the milky way was still strong above. 19 image panorama shot in landscape format. Thanks for looking

Nice shot Michael. I struggle to get anything that close to civilization :-)
Where did you take the pic from?
Best

Stunning shot. I am also interested where that was taken from? I am guessing along Comleroy Road towards Colo.

Greg.

Thanks Win & Greg,
I have more luck with nights capes in the sydney basin when looking west. Anything looking east (from the western side of Sydney at least) gets blown out from the light pollution.
The spot is at a lookout at the end of Fairlight Rd which turns off Mulgoa Rd in Mulgoa. I think its called The rock look out or something. The last third of the road is dirt, and there is a car park at the end. The lookout is only a short 3-5 min walk from the carpark. There are other tracks leading out from the carpark also. From the car park follow the track and you soon come to an area with some sign posts with no signs on them. To your left (west) there are 2 short sign posts (again with no sign) that obviously used to be the sign for the look out. Proceed left, there are some faded blue arrows around and the track does have steps so once you are on it is easy. I've only been there in the dark. the look out has a great view from the Southwest to the north.
