Thumbs down Yep - last night's seeing was rubbish

Managed to snap this quick 40 second avi between fast moving cloud last night.

Gee, the difference in seeing conditions from only a few days prior is really quite staggering.

Anyway, here tis... served with a nice helping of onions

Didn't bother processing beyond Regi...

hey a month ago you would've been happy with that!

Amazing how we raise the bar on ourselves. I still think it's a good shot Matt, better than some of the rubbish i've captured lately.

Yeah... true, but you know what it's like though, right?

Once you've had a taste of some of the better stuff it's tough to go back

Looking good Matt, there's definite improvement even in your poor seeing shots which suggests improvement in your techniques and processing all round.

By the way what exposure, frame rate and gain do you typically run?

cheers,

Thanks Rob.

I vary the exposure between 1/25th and 1/33rd depending on the seeing and which produces the better result on the laptop screen on the night.

I've found, though, that 1/25th tends to give my images a little more saturation.

I'm normally working at 10fps... will occasionally try 5fps if the seeing looks up to it and I dare take the risk of only capturing 500-600 frames in an avi.

The gain varies also depending on the night, but anywhere between 40/50% up to 65/70%
