GraemeT gravely ill in hospital after car accident

I got terrible news about fellow IISer GrameT. Three weeks ago Graeme, his wife and another couple friends of theirs, were on the Jenolan Caves road heading to the cave network, when a car came around a bend in the road on the wrong side of the road smashed into them head on.

Graeme's wife only recently left hospital, having been seated in the back seats, she was not as severely injured as the occupants of the front seats. Graeme is still in hospital, his injuries being very severe, and his recovery is a slow one. He had only recently also recovered from a major illness too just to make things more difficult for him.

Graeme was very much looking forward to attending the IISAC, and is very disappointed to have missed it. I was looking forward to catching up with Graeme then too. When I didn't see him there I just thought he decided against attending as the weather was so dodgie. I never imagined what had actually had happened.

I wish Graeme a speedy recovery. His charming wife while out of hospital, is also slowly on the mend.

All the best, mate. I hope you are back on board soon.

Alex.

Hi Alex,

That's terrible news! This is Graeme from over Castle Hill way?
If so, I had the pleasure of his company here on a couple of occasions
only a couple of months ago. We wish he, his wife and friends a swift
recovery.

Coincidentally I was only chatting to someone about the notorious hazards
of the Jenolan Caves road up at IISAC when we were comparing it to the
hazards of driving to Lostock itself.

Best regards

Gary Kopff

Alex, that can only be days after Graeme came round to visit me to talk about CdC. He only lives a kilometer from here also in Glenhaven.

Apart from talking astronomy he and I had a long chat about our cancer treatments.

Very sorry to hear that. I know the JC road very well, from 20 years of road crash rescue there and its a favourite road on the bike. Unfortunately, its the sort of road that exposes the inadequacies in a lot of peoples driving skills.

I wish Graeme, his wife and friends a speedy recovery.

Al.

Sorry to hear i hope he and his family makes a full recovery.

The speed limit there is a bit excessive for the roads and hazards. Lots of roos about.

I visited Graeme in hospital last Wednesday and he was still very sore but getting better. He was complaining about the food (justified) and very disappointed he missed iisac as he wanted to have a look at Alex's new scope. He has been transferred to the Hills Private hospital.

Thanks

This is the first time I've had access to my computer since the crash.
Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes. I hope to be out of hospital in another week, but it will be a long time before I'm back to normal.
IIS is certainly a caring family!
Cheers everyone
Graeme

How did the other guy fare?
Whilst certainly stupid, I hope he is also recovering.
Glad you and family/friends are recovering and hope the lasting effects are minimal.
This may be time to think about that 4x4...

Hi Graeme

I hope you are getting better now. I will be visiting SWMBO in the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) and wondered if I might drop by. What bed are you in.

Barry
