A Small Region in Vela SNR

Hello,
This is the region around the star SAO 220204 in the vast area of Vela supernova remnant. The supernova that originates this SNR exploded around 11.000-12.300 years ago, when was about 800 LY away. The

Vela SNR is one of the closest known to us although very faint, shining with apparent magnitude 12.

This image is a capture in bi-color through Ha and O3 filters. Each channel is a stack of 14 sub frames of 20 minutes each.

The full resolution image can be seen here:

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for all the kind comments and appreciation.

I am still working on a version of Vela SNR showing almost the whole thing. It looks like I am working in the construction of the universe, something that never ends. I hope to finish this project still in this life time!!

Best Regards,

Fernando

Beautiful Fernando. A very nice rendition of one of the most spectacular southern objects.

Greg.
