Jewel Box Cluster DMK41 experiment

Hi all,

Due to the unfortunate demise of my DSLR from a debayer mod gone wrong, I am with out a deep sky Ha sensitive camera until I replace the dead sensor.

As an experiment this was taken using a DMK41au02 through red, green and blue filters as well as. Luminance through a Baader neodymium IR cut filter.

Luminance 9 x 39s & 40 x 4s (Gain 260)
RGB: 20 x 10s (Gain set to 500) & 20 x 10s (Gain set to Max) for each.

Processed and combined in PS and diffraction spikes added in PS using "Astronomy Tools" actions pack.

With all the intense colours and halos it looks more like a work of art than
a photo. It would look good in poster size on the wall.

I agree with Raymo. It's pretty. Print it at work and hang it up somewhere for people to marvel at.

Thanks for the comments guys, I agree that it is colorful (quite possibly overly so), but I deliberatly increased the saturation and vibrance to 50 on both to emphisize the colors of the Jewel box. Everytime I tried to image the Jewel Box, no picture I ever took did it justice when comparing to the view in the eye piece... especially using the 11mm TV Type 6 Nagler... the high power and wide field of view show it looking awesome, pin point sharp stars with the vibrant colours.
To date I am the happiest with this NGC4755 compared to all I did in the past but also I'm thinking that I could have taken another set of RGB subs but slightly de-focused to generate more intense colored halos, particularly around the brighter stars.

Next time.
