Hi there,
Over the years I did some research about how to control your display and came across some tools I like to share.
While most astronomy software has a night mode, Windows doesn't. And it really happens that you need to switch to your desktop and then you get blinded.
The tools and tweaks below help to prevent this as they allow to dim down the display brightness below the limits of your monitor.
Hope this helps someone to keep it's night vision.
ScreenWhite:

This directly remote controls your monitor(s). Results are the same as fiddling around with the monitor control buttons, but much easier to use. Note:
Might not work on built-in laptop displays (but on external monitors)
Redshift GUI

This can wind down the brightness of your screen even further, below the physical limit of your monitor adjustments.
Redshift can also automatically adjust the colour temperature of your screen depending on the time, so you get a better sleep!
This tool basically adjusts the graphics card gamma ramp and works on any PC.
Tweak Windows
Windows prevents the user to adjust the screen brightness too low (as you might not see anything on the screen). But you can remove this limitation. In order to wind down the screen brightness with Redshift even further, unzip and execute the attachment. You need to confirm to run Registry Editor, (no it doesn't harm your computer).
