:(
Last night with the 8" f6 newt and all it's gear
the bloke I built it for is coming to pick it up tomorrow
Oh well, at least I have had a lot of 'test' runs
M42, 45 subs, 30 seconds at ISO 6400. Shame I forgot to take some subs for the core.
Carina, 25 subs, 30 seconds at ISO 6400.
Cheers
Jo

Ah well, it had to happen one day. Just think of it as a learning experience for your 8" F5. The F5 is yours right?

Stunning!!! Why would you bother with a CCD camera and hours of subs?

Yep, I have learnt a lot, and the F5 is mine
I got another sensor coming for my super cooled camera so will soon be imaging with that.

Thank you Bruce
I like framing it this way, and the colours seem to work alright.

Thank you Ray! I agree, even if I had the money I don't see much advantage in a CCD. Who sees a decent CCD image with 15 minutes integration time?
Cheers
Jo

That's a gallery of images to be proud of Jo.
Thanks for sharing them.

Geez Jo your processing of these images is really impressive. Hard to imagine that you used ISO6400 for these considering how smooth they look.
What mounting are you using for these scopes?
Most people (like me) churn out a bunch of poorly shot, poorly processed images early on in their astrophotography "careers" but you've been nailing this from the start. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Cam
The scope was mounted on an iOptron IEQ45, a brilliant mount, I wish it was mine
I have churned out a lot of poor images since I started a year ago, it's just that I had gotten over the worst stage before I joined IIS
give me a few weeks to get my horse shoe mount up and running and you will be able to enjoy some trailed stars, and lots of amp glow

I assume that they are raws, not JPEGS, and with darks, flats, etc.

Yes, all the images were raws, some with flats, and all with no darks.
