Galactic Reflections

I have been drooling over Carlos’ images recently and wanted to see if I might be able to capture something half as awesome. It has been really calm at night and the reflections of the stars on the full dams (we had some rain!) looks great and Steve’s image from the other day prompted me have a go at imaging them.

I rode my motorbike (don’t have my drivers license yet) down the road about 3k’s to a particular dam that had some interesting dead trees in it and was able to capture this image that I have called ‘Galactic Reflections’. Hope you like it!

19 image pano, 45 seconds each frame with a Canon 1100D with stock lens at 18mm F3.5, ISO 6400. Stitched in Hugin and processed in Aperture.

Check out the larger version Here.

Cheers
Jo

Thanks The location was easy, colours not so much so, I think I repro'd this image over 10 times! I'm pretty chuffed with how it came out though, especially with only a cheap camera and lens

Absolutely stunning, both the location and the composition. A very good image indeed, well done. Those trees silhouetted against the airglow look magical.
