Mars is on my agenda in the next couple of months. It is currently rising at 5 in the morning and is in slight retrograde. It will be much better in a couple of months. So for now, hurry up and wait. The Americans at the moment have a much better view of it. But not for long.

But I promise that those of us that do photos will inundate you with them. You never know so of the guys at Wiruna might bring some shots home.

I think and I stand to be corrected on this, but Mars is supposed to be at its best approximately in September. Can anyone confirm this?

Your probably right Peter, I saw it a month and a half ago at 5, so it has no doubt moved by now. I just checked and it will be at opposition on Nov 7. 19.93 arc secs in size
