Lostock Landscapes

Here's a few of my landscape shots from IISAC this year.

1. The stream with the log.
2. The log and the stream.
3. Baby Rapids.
4. More Baby rapids.
5. Shading the stream.
6. Country Road.
7. "Five Trees" from a different angle.
8. Rememberance Tree.

It's a lovely place to camp for a few days, storm or no storm.

Yes, the abundance of recent rain greened it up. It also increased the flow in the river which sucked the summer heat out of the rocks, so the water in the swimming hole was considerably cooler than I expected.

Could be, Dave. It didn't seem like more flow at the time, but the swimming hole had certainly changed shape, and more weeds along the bank of the river etc so things have changed subtly.

It was to be my first astro camp. Registered for the three days, came down with a bug on the Wednesday and spent the next three days in bed instead of Lostock. Bugger

Well, Ulrich, as disappointing as that is, I have gone to IISAC one year, and got sick and spent the whole time from Thursday morning until Saturday sick in my tent until I decided to pack up and go home. You made the right choice!

Thanks Mike. I couldn't detect any cast induced by the adjustable ND filters (actually 2 polarising filters built into the one filter). So I think they are keepers! Much cheaper and more convenient than buying a set of ND filters to try to achieve the same range.

From the observing field, at a quick glance it looks like 5 equally spaced trees, but of course there 2 close together.
